“To see the horrible version that sucked ass”
Laugh at the joke. Anyway you probably remember me saying in a past blog post something along the lines of, “the 2014 version was shit”. By 2014 version I mean the really old version of the game before I took a break from it (probably a year or two) then came back to it, why did I scrap this version of the game? Simple. It was bad. The problem with the game is that it had no real clear direction or goal, shit just happened for the sake of it happening. Although it did have some interesting content, even some I forgot about. I’m not going to go over everything in this, you can explore that by yourself.
So the first difference you can see is, the early “per-production” splash screen, the only reason this existed is so I wouldn’t get a comment like “this game no work correctly?” The other difference would be the early title, this is was changed for obvious reasons. Also the screen size is bigger, I had to make it smaller so lighting wouldn’t look weird.
Early title screen, you can see the “RPG Maker” leaking out of it.
Holy shit I hate this fucking face so much, I never liked it. She looks like a pig, this is why nobody picked the female character. Because she looked fucking ugly.
Ok so this was the biggest difference in the game alongside the story, this was the main part of the game. Originally you would have to go around the world and stop CPAC from taking over the internet and world. It’s not a bad premise, but when I was making the current version I had a better idea on what it should focus on, the players actions rather than the two worlds. Some parts of this actually made it in so don’t feel bad if you’re upset.
Here’s an early Jamal if you haven’t seen him. He’s more black than in the full version, he also has a Mohawk in early versions, I cut it because it looked a bit odd. Also Bishkek looks to much like an actual town rather than a dystopian future.
This isn’t the first tutorial, I actually cut these from the game because you know how to play video games.
World map was completely different.
This is one of the only good peaces of dialogue in the game. Everything else screams “Trying too hard to be funny.” The other is the guard guarding the hole in the wall.
Toriel never appeared because I couldn’t make sprites for her at the time. So she never appeared, she gets a better job in the better version.
Wow that was horrible. Anyway you probably noticed Sera hasn’t made an appearance yet, that’s because she wasn’t even a character at that point in development. After a few months of development I had alot of school work to do so I gave the project to Speghi, he did nothing. When Club Penguin was closing down I had a lot more experience with the engine and wanted to make it much better, so I started development from the start and here we are now.
You’re probably thinking to yourself “wow this looks bad download link?” and to that I say, yea sure here it is. I recommended you play with the debug mode on since the game doesn’t actually function (that’s the one thing that carried over from the original.)
